UNICEF follow up visit to KAUH
UNICEF follow up visit to KAUH
Dr. Eresso AGA, the Health Manager from the UNICEF office in Amman and Ms Buthaina Alkhateeb visited one of the JSANDS participating hospitals on the 26th of February, 2020 as a follow up visit to monitor the progress of the project development and implementation. Dr. Eresso and Ms Buthaina first met with the JSANDS team in the morning at JUST, then they started their schedule program with a tour at KAUH. They met the focal points and some members of the death review committee at KAUH, who demonstrated to them some of their system entries of current births and deaths and how they use the system after each birth and/or death. One of the focal points, the Nurse Manager at KAUH presented their progress in the project and shared some success stories from the actions being implemented by the death review committee within the hospital. During this visit, the UNICEF team had a discussion with some of the nurses and midwives about the feasibility of the JSANDS system and related issues.
The nurses were very happy about the visit and enjoyed sharing their experience of the JSANDS project with the UNICEF team. Dr Eresso had then met with the JSANDS team at JUST university and discussed the progress of the project and future plans of disseminating it at a national level and what might be the enabling factors and the discouraging factors in the future. Dr. Eresso showed gratitude and appreciation of the team work and was very impressed with the success stories of all hospitals which arose from the specific action plans from the death review committee. The day ended with a business lunch with the JSANDS team to solve any potential issue related to the project and future collaboration and potential integration of the JSANDS with other surveillance systems especially those which register deaths of children under 5 years of age.
