Site visit by the Senior Program Officer at International Development Research Centre (IDRC)
Dr. Qamar Mahmood from the IDRC visited the JSANDS participating hospitals as a follow up visit to monitor the progress of the project development and implementation. Dr. Qamar first met with the JSANDS team and then he started his schedule program with a tour at Rahma and Badea hospitals. He met the focal points and some members of the death review committee at these hospitals, who demonstrated to him some of their system entries of current births and deaths and how they use the system after each birth and/or death. A similar visit was then done at King Abdulla University Hospital (KAUH), where one of the focal points presented their progress in the project. During these visits, Dr. Qamar had a discussion with some of the nurses and midwives as well as physicians about the feasibility of the JSANDS system and related issues. The nurse and doctors were very happy about Qamar’s visit and enjoyed sharing their experience of the JSANDS project with him. Dr Qamar had then met with the JSANDS team at JUST university and discussed the progress of the project and future plans of disseminating it at a national level and what might be the enabling factors and the discouraging factors in the furture. Dr. Qamar showed gratitude and appreciation of the team work.
