JSANDS team held a Training workshop at Irbid Specialty Hospital for the JSANDS focal points
A training workshop was conducted at Irbid Specialty Hospital in May, 2019 to train the focal points at the hospital on how to use the JSANDS surveillance system. The workshop was conducted by the JSANDS team. The director of Nursing at the hospital along with the head nurses of both the midwifery unit and NICU attended the workshop. Two other senior staff also received training during the workshop. A demonstration was undertaken to enable the nurses to report all births as well as stillbirths and neonatal deaths. The Hospital general manager, Dr. Wasfi Al-rashdan, was very enthusiastic about the surveillance system and is optimistic to utilize this system to reduce preventable neonatal deaths and stillbirths in the country. It’s worth mentioning that Irbid Specialty Hospital receives more than 4000 births every year. This makes the hospital a big asset in the success of the system.
